I’ve had kind of an obsession with cupcakes lately. Not the kind you eat, although who can resist a moist, decadent cupcake with fluffy icing and some sprinkles. Mmmmm! Since I mentioned that the cupcakes I’ve been focusing on aren’t the edible kind you might be wondering what kind of cupcakes I’ve had such an infatuation with. Well, let me tell you, I’ve been designing free cupcake svg files for you!
This cute cupcake free svg file set will be the first of a couple cupcake designs I’ll be sharing with you and the best part is they’re absolutely free.

Equipment
- Cricut Maker / Cricut Explore Air 2 / Cricut Joy or another brand of cutting machine
- Light Grip Cutting Mat for the Cricut Maker or Explore / Cricut Joy Light Grip Cutting Mat
- Spatula or Other Removal Tool – I like the Basic Tool Set
- Fine Point Blade & Housing – for the Maker & Explore / for the Cricut Joy
- Pair of Scissors – I love these Fiskars scissors for intricate cuts
- Utility Knife – Cricut TrueControl Knife Kit
- Glue – Aleene’s Clear Gel Tacky Glue
- Fineline Precision Tip Applicator Bottle with 20 Gauge Fine Tip (fill with glue)
Materials
- Free Cupcake SVG File
- 7 pieces Cardstock Multiple Colors
- Glitter
- 4 inches of Ribbon 1/4 inch wide
Instructions
Step 1 – Download And Unzip The Free SVG Cupcake File
- First you’ll need to download the Free Cupcake SVG from my Free Resource Library
- Unzip the Free Cupcake SVG file
- locate the file on your hard drive
- on a pc right click on the .zip file and select unzip or on a Mac double click the .zip file
Step 2 – Upload the Free Cupcake SVG File Into Cricut Design Space
- Open Cricut Design Space
- Click on the New Project button near the top right corner of Cricut Design Space
- Click on the Upload button on the bottom of the tool bar on the left of Cricut Design Space
- Drag and Drop the file onto Cricut Design Space or click on the Browse button
- If you choose Browse select the folder you saved and unzipped the free svg cupcake file into
- Select the free svg cupcake file
- Click on the Open button
- On the right side of Cricut Design Space in the Image Name box add a descriptive name for the Cute Cupcake svg file
- Below the Image Name box click in the Tags (Optional) box and type in tags to help you later when you search for the cupcake
- Tags are words that will remind you what the file is
- They’re the words you’d type in the search box when searching for the item
- A tag doesn’t have to be an individual word, it can be a phrase
- Tags should be separated by commas like the words below
- IE: cupcake, layered cupcake, cupcake with swirl cutouts
- Click on the Upload button
Step 3 – Prepare The File In Cricut Design Space
- Size the cupcake to fit your card size
- I made a card that was half of a letter sized sheet of paper so my card was 5.5 inches tall and 8.5 inches wide before folding it in half. I scored and folded my card at 4.25 inches. I like this size because I can make 2 cards for every letter sized sheet of cardstock. I buy letter size white cardstock in bulk. I also found some small envelopes that are just bigger than my small card size.
Step 4 – Make The Cupcake In Cricut Design Space
- Click on the Make It button near the top right corner of Cricut Design Space

Instructions
- First you'll need to download the Free Cupcake SVG from my Free Resource Library
- Unzip the Free Cupcake SVG file
- Open Cricut Design Space
- Upload the Cute Cupcake SVG
